Demand to remove encroachments from government land,

Regarding alleged encroachment, illegal plotting and construction on government and village community lands in the villages Dhavapur‑Khasarwara, Kishunpur‑Kaudiyan, and Sikandarpur‑Banthra of the Sarojininagar tehsil area, the architect of the “Encroachment‑Free India Campaign,” Dharmamurti Pandit Lakshman Balyogi, has sent a final reminder to the administration. In the letter sent on 29 August 2026, he demanded swift action from the Chief Justice of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the District Magistrate of Lucknow and the Police Commissioner of Lucknow.

The letter states that complaints and correspondences have been submitted at various levels regarding the case dating from 2022. The complainant alleges that alleged encroachment and illegal plotting are being carried out on government land, village community land, forest cover, temples, ponds, cemeteries and other lands meant for public use in the mentioned villages.

The complaint accuses certain private individuals and their associates of, in collusion with local revenue officials and staff, occupying government land, undertaking illegal construction, and selling it through forged documents. The complainant claims that the estimated value of these properties exceeds Rs 500 crore. However, independent verification of these allegations has not been completed as of the preparation of this news.

Dharmamurti Pandit Lakshman Balyogi also referenced PMOPG complaint number PMOPG/D/2026/0131343 and IGRS reference number 60000260191981 in his letter. He alleges that, despite the complaints, the concerned officials have not conducted adequate field investigations and he has also questioned the process of addressing the complaints.

He has demanded that an impartial investigation be conducted, that government and village community lands be cleared of encroachments, and that if the investigation substantiates the allegations, stringent legal action be taken in accordance with the law against the involved land mafias as well as any culpable officials or staff.

Demand for action by 30 September In the reminder, the complainant has asked the administration to clear the relevant government and village community lands of encroachments and to take action against those responsible by 30 September 2026. He also described this as a final reminder, stating that if effective action is not taken within the stipulated time, he will protest through democratic and non‑violent means.

According to the letter, on 2 October 2026, the occasion of World Non‑Violence Day, a silent sit‑in will be held at 1 p.m. in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Hazratganj. This will be followed at 4 p.m. by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, proceeding to the Assembly, staging a solo march before the Governor, reaching the Chief Minister’s official residence and submitting the memorandum.
