When the daughter went to meet her mother, she found the door open; upon seeing the scene inside, screams rang out, household items were missing, raising suspicion of murder after a robbery.

First Glimpse | Rohtash Delhi

In the posh area of Jangpura’s Pant Nagar in the capital Delhi, a sensational incident caused an uproar on Friday. Seventy‑year‑old senior citizen Preeti Kumari, who lived alone, was murdered under suspicious circumstances. Her body was found on the bed inside the house, drenched in blood. Early information suggests that after some belongings went missing from the house, the murder may have occurred during a robbery.

It is reported that Preeti Kumari’s elder daughter reached Pant Nagar on Friday morning after dropping her own daughter at Sanskrit School, to meet her mother. Upon reaching the house, she saw that the main door was open.

As soon as the daughter entered the house, she was stunned to see her mother’s blood‑soaked condition before her eyes. Preeti Kumari was lying on the bed and the household items were in disarray.

The deceased’s son‑in‑law said that when the daughter entered the house, she found her mother in a gory state on the bed. The condition of the house leads to the suspicion that the perpetrators also looted the premises during the incident.

It is said that Preeti Kumari lived alone in the house. This raises the question of how the intruders managed to enter the home and why she was specifically targeted.

As soon as the incident was reported, a police team arrived at the scene. Police have inspected the crime scene and begun an investigation. CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding area is being examined to determine the exact motive for the murder and how many people were involved.

The murder of an elderly woman inside a home in the upscale neighbourhood of Pant Nagar, Jangpura, has shocked residents. After the incident, local people’s concerns about security have increased.

At present, police are investigating the case. By linking clues from the robbery, the murder and the crime scene, police are working to reach the suspects. Only after the investigation is complete and the perpetrators are arrested will the full picture of the incident emerge.

The killing of an elderly woman in Pant Nagar has once again raised the question—if a senior citizen living alone inside her home is not safe, how robust is the security for senior citizens in the capital?
