Lucknow, 24 August 2026. Architect of the Nation Reconstruction Mission
Dr. Pandit Lakshman Balayogi, a religious scholar, has issued a sharp rebuke to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the discussion among students on religious and historical texts such as Manusmriti, the Bible, and the Quran. He accused that incorporating such subjects into political discourse is an attempt to create ideological confusion among the youth.
In a press release from Yogi Bhavan, Atal Bihari Sevagram, Buntara, Lucknow, Balayogi stated that Manusmriti is an ancient text linked to India's history and social thought, and that scholars may hold differing views about it. According to him, the study of any religious or historical text should be based on facts, history, and constitutional values, not to provoke political conflict.
He said that while respecting India's diverse religious and cultural traditions, youths should be taught the Constitution, democratic values, national unity, and social harmony. He accused Rahul Gandhi of turning such sensitive subjects into a political platform on student stages, which could create unnecessary debate and division in society.
Balayogi said that the National Reconstruction Mission is committed to India's unity, integrity, and sovereignty. He added that the country should move forward on issues of education, employment, science, technology, and social development rather than any religious or ideological dispute.
Addressing the students, he said that the youth are the future of the country and they should receive education in self-respect, self-reliance, constitutional awareness, and responsible citizenship instead of confusion or bitterness. He noted that India's strength lies in its diversity and democratic system.
At the end of the press release, the National Reconstruction Mission reiterated its resolve to maintain national unity and social harmony. Balayogi said that dialogue among all communities and ideologies and adherence to constitutional limits are essential to advance India.
