If there is a provision for fines and action against water wastage by the general public.

Anita Guleria / New Delhi. In DDA Park, located near the Jhandewala Temple, a problem of continuous water leakage from a Delhi Jal Board pipeline has been reported for nearly two years. Locals allege that a large volume of water is wasted every day from the pipeline, yet the relevant department and administration have not yet provided a permanent solution.

According to local residents, the water stream from the pipeline keeps flowing continuously. They say that while many areas of Delhi face water shortages, the situation of millions of liters of water being wasted from government pipelines is alarming. People have demanded that officials inspect the site immediately and repair the pipeline.

Citizens question whether, if fines and actions are stipulated for public water wastage, there should also be accountability against officials and responsible departments that show negligence in government administration. They argue that water conservation is not only the public’s responsibility but also a significant duty of government departments.

Local people have demanded that in addition to repairing the pipeline, an investigation be conducted to find out why, despite long-standing complaints and issues, no action has been taken. They state that the waste of government resources directly translates into loss of public funds and natural resources.

The aim of Pratham Jhalak is to bring the public’s problems to the forefront and convey the voices of the people to the relevant administration. Delhi residents can share problems in their area, issues related to government facilities, and matters of public interest through various Pratham Jhalak platforms.

Now the question for Delhi residents is—should accountability be imposed on such neglect by the government administration? Share your suggestions and local issues with us. Pratham Jhalak continues to strive to give a voice to the common people.
